Growing up as a a farmer's daughter, I was fortunate and blessed that my parents both knew and served the Lord. However, during those years, my dad was the only one in his family who was a professing, church going Christian. When I was asked to sing and share a little at the funeral of one of my dad's brothers, I must confess I found it difficult believing he didn't know the Lord. Some time later when talking to his daughter-in-law (who had become a born again Christian), she expressed that she hoped and prayed that "sometime when he was out in the field, that he may have acknowledged God"...most of what you wrote would resonate with her I'm sure.
